MUDE - Museu do Design
Synopsis
MUDE – Museu do Design is a museum owned by Lisbon City Council, established in 2006. Dedicated to all forms of design, the collection currently consists of 35 000 inventory items, organised into 24 collections and 6 nuclei (Stage; Editorial; Graphic; Contemporary Jewellery; Fashion; Product, including Interiors).
The museum occupies the entire block of the former headquarters of Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU), formed by Rua Augusta, Rua da Prata, Rua de São Julião and Rua do Comércio. In the heart of Baixa Pombalina, the historic centre rebuilt according to the Marquis of Pombal's plan after the 1755 earthquake, MUDE has eight floors and a total area of almost 14 000 m2, with five galleries for exhibiting the museum's collection and presenting temporary exhibitions, as well as spaces for education, research, study, debate, creation, socialising and leisure. Its full reopening in 2024 also contributed to the cultural and identity revitalisation of central Lisbon.
The combined ticket allows you to visit all the exhibitions on display.
